A New Way To Read

Today's topic isn't directly related to our permission marketing software.  I get that, to be sure.  But recently I stumbled across a website that has actually given me the opportunity (or perhaps has given me a workaround for my laziness) to read books I've always wanted to read but never found time to do so over a given period of time.  Enter DailyLit.com.

Now I know what you're thinking: Meg, you don't write for TechCrunch.  This blog is about best practices for custom phone messaging.  True as all of that is, I feel it is my duty, nay privilege, to inform my small band of blog followers of the fabulousness to be found in the world.

DailyLit lets you read books in their entirety in short, customized installments that can be sent to you via email or RSS feed.  I didn't think I'd like this format at first, but turns out it's quite ingenious.  Every day, I get a manageable bit of Anna Karenina to read before work.  Granted, the book is spliced into 423 segments and only comes on weekdays, meaning I'll be reading this well into 2010, but it's better than never reading it at all, or so I believe.  Another issue is that once our Stepan Arkadyevitch gets out of his morning ritual and has to confront the devoted wife he's been cheating on, I could be tempted to cheat the system by purchasing the book and reading on.  Either way, it's giving me the opportunity to enjoy those books I've deemed 'less important' than others.

Again, I certainly understand that DailyLit doesn't really have an impact on our voice broadcasting system or your broadcast campaign but I certainly do enjoy sharing little treasures along the way.  Plus, it's always possible you could find inspiration for your broadcast message script in Sense and Sensibility.  Possible, though not probable.

Note to my readers: A big shout out to Ryan (or Beta Driver as I like to call him) for commenting on my blog.

Enjoy Dashboard by Modest Mouse. Seriously one of the craziest music videos out there.
